Homecoming activities for 1977 began on Wednesday evening, December 14 at 9 p.m. when Survive was presented in Chrisman Auditorium. A disco party was held Thursday night from 8 p.m. until midnight in the cafeteria. On Friday morning at 10:30 the cheerleaders conducted a Pep Rally in Faith Chapel. Homecoming queen candidates and attendants were introduced while the pep band played. At 6:30 p.m. on Friday the traditional homecoming parade moved through downtown Pikeville, starting at the college gym and including members of the basketball team and coaching staff, homecom- ing queen candidates and attendants, Miss Pike County Kathi Mullins, area high school bands, the pep band, and the cheerleaders. A concert featuring singer guitarist Erin Issac occurred at 9 p.m. Friday in Chrisman Auditorium. The homecoming basketball game began at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17 at the Pikevklle High School gym. The Bears hosted Berea in a conference game which resulted in a loss for the Bears. Kay Blackburn a senior music education major from Betsy Layne, was crowned homecoming queen during halftime ceremonies at the game. She reigned over the homecoming dance at Mullins High School from 8 p.m. until midnight Saturday night. Music was presented by Tyrone Smith and Charade. The week ' s activities ended with an all night bowling party at the Starlite Bowling Center from midnight until 5 a.m. All the events were open to students, faculty, staff, administration and alumni. 26
