Dr. Rediford Damron The closing of the 1976-77 school year not only meant departure of the graduating seniors, it also marked the retirement of a faculty member that had become an institute at Pikeville College . Dr. Rediford Damron came to Pikeville College in 1946 as head of the education department at the Training School and he saw the facility grow from a Junior College to a four-year institution with a graduate consortium. During his thirty years at Pikeville College this versatile man filled many capacities , he taught in the Sociology Department and served as Academic Dean, was Vice- President for Academic Affairs , and was appointed Provost from 1965-1967. Dr. Damron was honored with the Distinguished Almus Award in 1974, and was named Distinguished Faculty Member in 1976. With his ability to serve wherever asked, Dr. Damron was a vital part of the college community. It is with great sadness we say farewell to this dedicated servant of the College. Our thanks for your concern for young people and the course of education in Eastern Kentucky.
