HALL President and First Lady of Pikeville College. 159 What or why Pikeville College is . . .is irrelevant at this point. What matters now is the method in which we employ the power instilled in us stemming from the knowledge we have gained at this institution. You may ask what is this power? . . . in answer I will say that to me knowledge is one of the most powerful tools in the world. But, alas, is seems that we are about to be jettisoned into a world that has transformed this power into a weapon. It is justifiable to fear that this very thing that once acted as a stimulus for mankind may soon destroy it. Therefore it appears to me that our duty upon entering the world is to turn man ' s mind back to the true respon- sibilities of existence. The world from which we can no longer escape or avoid is a very cold creature. Feelings of brotherhood and love seem to be rapidly hiding themselves in darkness. There is too much work involved in existing for man to really live. It is our duty to redirect man ' s attention to brotherhood and peace. It is our task to cry out to man — SLOW DOWN AND TAKE TIME TO LIVE BEFORE YOU MISS YOUR CHANCE! With these ideas in mind the senior class of 1975 willingly accepts the challenge to represent Pikeville College with our best efforts. We must march into society, dedi- cated to the goal of creating goodwill for all mankind. Ours is a troubled world. A continuation of the past would read only corruption and more discontent. The pres- ent must be molded into a more tranquil and conscious period so that we may look hopefully to the future. P. L. Keene Pres. 1975 Sr. Class 160
