Money earned for the club ' s treasury and then donated to worthwhile organizations is one of their satisfying tasks. And even as each of you stands alone in God ' s knowledge, so must each one of you be alone in his knowledge of God and in his understanding of the earth. The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wis- dom but rather of his faith and lovingness. If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind. The Prophet Kahlil Gibran 91 DR. ROBERT S. ' Gateway to the Breaks of the Big Sandy In 1882 Edison had a great idea. And it wasn ' t the electric light. The whole idea of investor-ownership of electric light and power companies be- gan when Thomas A. Edison and a group of investors financed his first power plant more than 80 years ago. Since then, investor-owned companies like ours have become an integral part of America ' s Free Enterprise system. That explains why today we have at our finger- tips more electric power than any other country in the world.
