Message Iwm the President t- ikeville, KeritucKij Pikeville College has made vast strides since its humble founding in 1889. From a one -building and one -teacher preparatory school, it has grown in three-quarters of a century to a fully accredited four-year college, with assets that total over four million dollars, and a school plant that boasts seven major buildings and a thousand-acre farm. On 4 January 1965, Pikeville College received full-membership status in the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, culminating seven long years of struggle for this recognition. Your alma mater has membership in the Association of American Colleges, the American Council on Education, and is on the approved list of the American Association of University Women. Pikeville College graduates are eligible to apply for admission to the nation ' s finest graduate and professional universities, to be licensed as teachers, and as applicants for professional rating positions in state and federal governmental service. Pikeville College ' s star is rising. We increased our enrollment more than twenty per cent this past year. Our students represent eighteen states and three foreign countries. As 1965 graduates, you leave our academic halls to go forth to serve God and Country.
