Perhaps the challenge most easily met, and yet the most rewarding, is the challenge of working with people. The close relationship of roommates, -the rewarding associations with classmates, and the valued friendship of faculty members and administrators all make im- portant contributions to the personality of each student. Through these social relation- ships friends are made, inter- ests are broadened and ideas are developed which help each student to become a well- rounded person. These close relationships are developed on the playing court, on the stage, in the rehearsal hall, and in the dormitories. Socially . . .

Challenge Through these doors step tomorrow ' s leaders. It is here at Pikeville College that we prepare ourselves to achieve professional status. We must meet the challenges and responsibilities of the Space Age in order to make this world of crises and anxiety a world of peace, prog- ress, and hope. We must adjust to the rapid pace of our moving so- ciety, and we must gear our ideas to the challenges that lie in the fields of medicine, chemistry, business, and the arts. This blending of mind and character must be achieved, for it is from these halls and through these doors at Pikeville College that tomorrow ' s hope will walk— today ' s answer to tomorrow ' s challenge. 13
