DEAN HOOVER DEAN DAMRON The unique function of the small church-related college is not only to give instruction in academic subjects, but to give the kind of train- ing in moral and spiritual values that are difficult to attain on a large college or university campus. Pikeville College is small enough that it can give individual attention to the student in the classroom and in the various campus activities. It is our sincere hope that as students receive their degrees from this college that they will be better citizens in the communities in which they make their homes because they attended a college that not only had an academic emphasis, but tried to develop the spiritual and moral values of life as well. rf DR. RUSSELL GREGG BISNETT Vice President Pikeville College is happy to welcome Dr. Russell G. Bisnett to our campus this year. He will serve as the first vice president in the history of the college. The primary duties of the new vice president will be in the field of public relations. Dr. Bisnett comes- to us from the First Presbyterian Church, of Lodi, California. Besides his pastoral duties, Dr. Bisnett was active in the affairs of his Presbytery, Synod and local community. We know that Dr. Bisnett will find work on a college campus different than the pastorate but we hope he will find it just as challenging and rewarding.

•i, ■ IN MEMORIAM When Mr. Boyd Randall first came to Pikeville College as Acting Dean and mathematics teacher, he said, It is gratifying to be here at Pike- ville where I am free to read scripture, make comments, and pray in assembly. Mr. Randall lived his religion every day. Recently he was asking for Boy Scout contributions. This was only one of his community activities. Although his work as Dean from 1951 to 1953 kept him very busy, he never seemed tired and was always patient in his conferences with students and faculty. After Mr. Randall left the Deanship to become a faculty member, he willingly took charge of Chapel when his services were needed. His wise and witty remarks on such occasions were well received by the students. On the day of his death, Thursday, December 5, 1957, Mr. Randall was attending a meeting of the officers of the Pikeville Kiwanis Club of which he had been faithful secretary for your years. In 1954 and 1955, he was voted Pikeville Kiwanian of the year. He was active in the organization of Presbyterian Men in the First Presbyterian Church of Pikeville. Mr. Randall had been vigorously living the last of life for which the first was made.
