Early season indications show that the Fresh- ft? fi ,fQ':Qg, man are going to be tough to beat this year. They started off with a convincing 6-0 league win over Silver Creek. The team showed fine pitching and exceptional hitting. They followed that win by splitting a double-header with Bellarmine, losing 105 in the first game, but winning the second game 14-3. In each of the three games the Pirates had 10 or more hits. The pitching staff is led by Sal Chiaramonte and Steve Christian. The hitting leaders are Dave Black, Gerry Landrum, Phil Menacho, Kevin Kim, Leroy Brotherton, and Leroy DeSmidt. ln the defensive department, Brian Shinn leads the way. It looks like the Pirate Bats-men are headed for a fine season and a league championship. Sports 145

In the eight years of golf at PH HS, this is the most balanced team that Mr. Bartell has ever coached, with such fine team members as Charlie Aldrich, Steve Bitcon, and Russ Boro. The six starting members have all had experience in the game, with two or more years of golf on this Varsity team. The team has been predicted to have a good record of seven wins and two losses.
