Phoenix Union, one of the largest and best equipped vocational-technical schools, can successfully offer potential experience and learning opportunities in shops, electronics and industrial areas. Taking advantage of the advance pro- gram offered here at Phoenix Union are exchange students enrolled from other Valley high schools. The Arizona State Fair and the annual Exhiborama display the various works done by students. Scholarships and awards are offered to students excelling in their field. To the already bright-red Trash cans, yellow flowers were added to make the cans more noticeable to the students. The idea was a rewarding one as signified by the rapid decrease of litter on campus. Business Develops Potentzal Leaders The business program offers many courses in preparation for the busi- ness world. Students are instructed not only in the handling of machines and other equipment used in busi- ness, but also in handling them- selves as attractive persons. The department encourages stu- dents to compete in building up typing and spelling skills. Each year certificates and cards are awarded to students excelling in their specific courses. The annual AMS spelling contest is recommended to each business student.
