Their running attack is strong, but their line is too weak. The Coyotes pose no threat. These were the statements given by the experts before the season. With only eleven returning lettermen, the pack's main problem seemed to be inexperience. Most of our players moved up from JV or joined for the first time. With all this, plus more, Coach Saunders ancl Coach Petty prepared the team for a long, hard season. GLENDALE 18--PHOENIX UNION 14 After scoring 12 points in the first quarter, the heavily favored Cardinals felt the Coyote bite, as the Coyotes took a 14-12 lead at halftime. Then the defense made it hard for Qlendale to score their winning touchdown. MARYVALE 13-PHOENIX UNION 13 Taking a 13 point lead in the first quarter, it looked like it was a Panther victory. Then in the fourth quarter, McKee caught a pass for 76 yards and touchdown. Trailing by 6 points, Hill connected to McKee again, this time for 27 yards and the tying touchdown. NGRTH 18-PHOENIX UNION 6 Hampered by mistakes and the Mustang defense and offense, the Coyotes felt the Mustangs' hooves as North led, 18-O. Then late in the fourth quarter, Michael Dasher caught a pass to prevent a Mustang shutout.
