Dr. Montgomery? 70tl: Birtlida Tech's faculty helps to celebrate Mr. Education's 70th birthday! Obviously, both birthday celebrant and those who honored him enjoyed the occasion. Who but a man of Dr. Montgomery's educational stature could have guided a school system such as this through the growing pains and have brought it to its present national acclaim? We honor both our Superintendent and the educa- tional opportunities he has helped to make possible for usl Dr. E. W. Montgomery, Superintendent of the Phoenix Union High schools and Phoenix College System, of which Phoenix Tech is a part, retires this year after 28 years in the System. Dr. Mont- gomery earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Liberal Arts from the University of Indiana, honorary doctorates were conferred on him by th University of Arizona lLawl and the California College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons ll-lumanicsl Under his able leadership the System has grown from a single high school and junior college to a still expanding system of four comprehensive high schools a technical school and a college with plans well under way for the addition of two new high schools next year all this yet Phoe nix is still in its infancy' N
