ll too quicklyll DlRECTOR'S MESSAGE Four years ago, ten years ago, twenty years ago lwhatever the span of years may be, they pass a you and l began our affiliation with this school. Before us was emblazoned a motto, that they who enter these halls of learning ENTER TO LEARN Our years of learning, as far as Tech is concerned, are past now - and together we LEAVE TO SERVE If we have served well our years of learning, if we have acquired a thorough knowledge of our trade or our vocation, as well as the traits of character and citizenship that will enable us to build a life, as well as to earn a living, then There is no doubt that wherever we may be, in whatever capacity we may find employment for our knowledge and our talents, we will serve well and ethically and recall to mind the quotation from Benjamin Franklin that HE WHO HATH A TRADE HATH AN ESTATE Z .i l l I! auykf 4.1--if f Jijl li 'Q N 07 01703135 on 1 isuffli LDUC -iydif. f?a??P1 av-155' s v .. abecfica lion Mr. J. J. Kayetan Twenty years ago, Mr. J. J. Kayetan joined the faculty of the Phoenix Union High School System as an instructor in the sheet metal shop. During the next fourteen years he was largely instrumental in establishing a pro- gressive vocational department in P.U.H.S. Later it was established in separate quarters in conjunction with the state. Six years ago this humble beginning culminated in the organization of a separate unit of the school system which was named Phoenix Technical School. Mr. Kayetan was appointed Director at its beginning. Under his direction the school has grown and expanded its facilities until more than 7,000 people have been enrolled in its various classes in a single year. Now that he is going on to larger fields of endeavor it is with gratitude for his excellent guidance and untiring labor that we dedicate this, the l952 Technician to him. 0140 M1772
