DEBATERS fLeft to rzghtl Robert Lawrence Montford Llbby Dorothea Vose Lxerett Harnden Prln Paul G Whlttemore In April the two teams went to Bates Much to our dellght these teams defeated every team, wxth whlch they debated, and brought home the bug cup Robert also won the 5100 scholarshnp to Bates, as bemg the best lndxvldual debater On the following Monday nlght at the Grange Hall the busmess men ln town gave a banquet to the debatmg team, the faculty, and the High School pupnls solved That the Jury system should be abol xshed m the Unlted States Friday March 21 1930 Fans Dunham and Robert Lawrence, members of our neg atlve debatmg team went to Mexlco accom panled by Prm Paul G Whlttemore ft 'I he declslon of the Jud es were unanlmous for the negatives, wlth a 3 to 0 vote Robert Lawrence bemg chosen the best speaker of the evenmg That same evenmg our afiirmatlve speakers Dorothea Vose and Wendell Whltney debated wlth Farmmgton at the Grange Hall also Wlnnlflg by a 3 to 0 vote Dorothea Vose was chosen as best speaker 'I hxs enabled our debaters to attend the de bate at Bates agam this year on Aprll 18 18 and debated wlth Morse Hlgh and M C I wlnnlng both debates thus golng into the finals Here we lost out to Leavltt Instxtute Robert Lawrence won the S100 scholarshlp avam thus year as best mdrvldual debater Ru, ,1 f Q I4 T H P l A N .7 i v . . .l t . g .
