LIEUTENANT COMMANDER EDMUNDS WAS COMMISSIONED THROUGH THE NROTC PROGRAM IN 1952 AFTER ATTENDING MARQUETTE AND PURDUE UNIVERSITIES AND INITIALLY SERVED ABOARD USS BAIROKO ICVE 115, . IN 1956, AFTER A TOUR OF DUTY AT THE NROTC UNIT, UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA, HE REPORTED TO USS ROCKBRIDGE fAPA 228, AS ENGINEER OFFICER. HE NEXT SERVED ABOARD USS ERNEST G. SMALL CDDR 838, . IN 1960 LCDR EDMUNDS JOINED THE STAFF OF COMMANDER SOUTH ATLANTIC FORCE. HE THEN ATTENDED US NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL, RECEIVING A BS DEGREE IN ENGINEERING ELECTRONICS IN 1964 AND SUBSEQUENTLY COMPLETED A ONE YEAR TRAINING PROGRAM IN NUCLEAR POWER PRIOR TO REPORTING TO USS PHILIP. LCDR EDMUNDS IS MARRIED TO THE FORMER MISS PHYLLIS DAVIES OF OSI-IKOSH, WISCONSIN, AND THEY HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS,KATHLEEN AND ANN MARIE.

LIEUTENANT COMMANDER ROE ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH AS'AN NROTC REGULA R RECEIVED HIS COMMISSION IN 1955. INITIALLY REPORTING TO USS SAINT PAUL CCA 733, HE REMAINED ABOARD FOR NEARLY THREE YEARS, SERVING IN VARIOUS BILLETS. IN DECEMBER 1960, AFTER A TOUR OF DUTY WITH THE STAFF OF COMTRAPAC IN SAN DIEGO, LCDR ROE I REPORTED TO USS OIBRIEN CDD 725, AS OPERATIONS OFFICER. HE ENTERED STANFORD UNIVERSITY IN SEPTEMBER, 1962, AND RECEIVED HIS MA DEGREE IN POLITICAL SCIENCE FROM STANFORD IN JUNE 1964, BEFORE REPORTING TO USS PHILIP.
