DE QCHMENT , N55 T VC-11's Team Item 7' with three AD-4U's fguppysj, four pilots, four officer controllers and a crew of twenty-five men, provided many invaluable services for the Ship and the Task Force which operated with the Philippine Sea. Our primary mission was AEWW-airborne early warning-thereby detecting approaching enemy forces. Secondarily, our detachment was called upon to act as search planes in ASW exercises. In addition to these, we also served as communications relay, Weather reconnaissance, pathfinder and conducted radar-photo missions. Through close cooperation with the ship, our airborne C. I. Us proved what we feel was an indispensable task in the Fighting Philisw operations. . X FIRST ROW: J. Speegle, LTJG K. E. Hettick, LT J. Ferrari, LT R. K. Haas, LCDR J. R. Herb, LTJG W. B.
