The skill and training of the men are such that neat shotsn and arrested landings appear routine to the casual observer. Both operations call for swift and positive handling of every job. Wind, pressure, temperature, the type of aircraft, its load, all affect the use of the catapult machinery and the arresting gear. Calculations must be right the first time, or disaster will result.
