UNITED WE STAND All of us in the Phelps-Clifton Springs School District - students, parents, teachers, administrators, secretaries, bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, board members - are about to end an old era and begin a new one. For many years now, it has been Phelps versus Clifton Springs - in academ- ics, in sports, in facilities and in just about any other competi- tive way imaginable. That division no longer exists. Legally, we have been one school district since 1967 but we have thus far maintained al- most complete physical separation. With the opening of our new school building next fall, that physical separation will be a thing of the past. We shall be together as one student body, one faculty, one team. We shall no longer be subject to the many weaknesses of a house divided because we shall have a common house which will draw its strength from the students it receives from the entire school district. Chiefly, this strength will make a lasting contribution to the improvement of instruction for the students of Phelps- Clifton Springs. Together, we shall face this new era with the courage and determination to provide the best in education for every child in the school district. John D.
