This is the first time that such an honor has been bestowed upon ,a student of Phelps High School, and we know that Ilselore was truly deserving of the privilege of studying abroad for a year in Italy, learning about the customs and language of the Italian people. At the same time, she has been teaching her Italian family and friends the American way. Her perseverance, hard work, and cheerful dis- position have made her a true A.F.S.'er in every way. I7

Again this year our community has hosted an American Field Service student, and we havg had the opportunity to acquaint ourselves first- hand with another land. Ahmed has sought to replace the widespread myths of Africa with fact and friendship, and we have benefited from this new knowledge. I-Ie has extended the hand of international understanding toward its ultimate goal of world peace.
