Dedication Osbern Putnam Willson, M . D. January 17, 1911-January 19, 1961 Dr. Willson was born in Colegrove, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six children. His father was an Epis- copal rector, and the family lived in many towns and houses, but the one permanent home Was the cottage at nearby Canandaigua Lake which they purchased in 1922. Dr. Willson graduated from high school at Corning Free Academy and had an athletic scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania where he played football and lacrosse. He played professional football with the Philadelphia Eagles and earned money to complete his pre-medical studies and medical school at Syracuse University. He married the former Marion Fuller of Oakfield in 1935 and graduated from Syracuse in 1940. He interned for two years at Rochester General Hospital and served from August 1942 to December 19415 in the Army Medical Corps. f The Willsons moved to Phelps in 1946 and Dr. Willson purchased the home and practice of Dr. Landers. He Was village health officer and conducted the school health clinics. Dr. Willson also took care of many injured students and delivered many members of the present graduating class. His children John, Tom, Joe, and Martha are students or graduates of Phelps Central School. 1 H In recognition of his many years of service to our school and community, the Class of 1966 dedicates this yearbook in memory of Dr. Willson.
