Foreword We are but a few steps along the ever winding road of life. Our yearbook portrays these' few, yet memorable steps, upon which each of us has tread. There have been some rocks in our way which we have tried to by-pass with many a faltering step, but we are finally at the bridge of graduation. All of us will now cross this bridge and go our, separate ways-each hoping to obtain the goal he dreams of. Every step forward will require all the knowl- edge and leadership we have been taught by the excellent guidance of our faculty. We salute everyone who has made our road a smooth one, and present to them our 1964 Phelps Highlights! ,,D9d1CC1l1OU ,f fa 'P'-'25 W-QWWMQ MR. AVERY HOLLENBECK Now, as we have reached our final year at Phelps Central, we should be grateful to those people who have made our school years more meaningful. Among those who rank foremost in our minds is Mr. Avery Hollenbeck. Mr. Hollenbeck, known to all as Avery, had been a custodian at our school for almost twenty years and could truly say that he had watched our class grow to its present status. In the elementary grades it was often Avery who cleaned up after us, and in later years it was he who was often on duty at our class activities. Most of all we remember his humorous jokes and his smiling countenance, which was always evident. Avery was truly a friend to all students at the school, and we shall just begin to realize how much a part of Phelps Central School he was and how much we miss him. Therefore, in recognition of his service to the school, we, the Class of 1964, dedicate this book to the memory of Mr. Avery Hollenbeck.
