' I Theplayiopened with a prologuein. which we met two angels, Agnes and Vvil- iied, who were on their way to earth to pick up a couple of elderly ifclientsu. How- ever, their mission is complicated when a mischievous, would-he angel, Pilone loy name, joined them as a kind ol heavenly hitch-hiker. . I As the play progressedf Agnes found, to her great dismay, that Augusta, her Hclientw, had no intentionpof Ugoingii. Things were further compiicated hy Qrpha Teel and iylillie Bromsley, who tried to interest Augusta in giving them some of her money. Qrpha was a social climloer who wanted to find her daughter, Ruthie, a rich hushandg for this she naturally needed financial loaclcing. lVliliie. on the other hand, wanted Augustais money for the purpose ol sponsoring her inventor hus- band, Baxter. June, theirvdaughter, was happily engaged to Richard Vvhite, while Grpha tried to force Ruthieis affection upon Roloert Hanley, a rich hypochondriac. Augustais household was completed loy her emotional maid, Diana Clump. Piione found, to his great delight, that he had a magical giftg whomever he kissed immediately fell in love with the person he was thinking of at the time. As you can well imagine, he used this gift to aid him in his merry pranics. By the he- ginning ol: the third act the characters-were hopelessly involved, however, every- thing cleverly evolved into a happy ending. Under the excellent direction of Mrs.. Chrissie Nagel and loecause of the adept assistance from prompters, the stage crew, the malce-up committee, the ushers, and the Swing Band, Down to Earth was a complete success. ' First row: D. This iaunching was Pro- fessor Smitifs first successful attempt to iaunch and iand a space ship twith every er aboard surviving, since finishing his graduate work at M. I. T. Bob toid us iafilait since Ee saw his first automat in New York City he,s bi-zlenl in thi habit of using one reguiariy ever since. B610 floated by and we were quite shaken by our three-way COHISIOH with Ruth Frederick, Bob Puiver, and Bob Goodman. Ruth, who was at present on a weii-earned vacation from her elementary pupils at P' told Us that Faye Chabot and Bernetta Raczinski had just had a ioveiy double wedding, and they are now iiving in Chicago, where Faye, incidentaiiy, was holding a very important job in journalism. Ruth also said that John Willson had just finished coaching his P. C. S. basketbaii team to victory in the national finals. Bob Puiver, stiii an eiigibie bacheior, toid us that his father had been spending some time doctoring the dairy herds of Leon Adams and Bob Vvestfaii. Bob Goodman wasn't fioating around much because he was hoiding on to his favorite bowling baii which had gained him his fame, and he toid us that he had just bought Arrow Head Lanes in Canandaigua. Bob also informed us that Dave Vviiber runs the Qidsmobiie agency in Can- andaigua, and that John Gifford was head mechanic at Dave,s garage. The three of them had frequently gotten together and bowied. This, of course, pleased Bob. At that moment a Hash of iight caught our eyes and out of the window we saw a super sonic piane with duais, which read Captain Woody Lee Travis U. S. A. Under these startling decorations were the initiais R. which couid be no other than those of Dick Flood, the worid-famous artist. We were then alerted to prepare for a landing on the moon, Professor Uschmittn brought his ship in for a beautiful ianding. Qur shock, when exiting from the ship, was tremendousg everybody on the moon had turned out to receive us. The National Guard was there assuring us of security, twhich was commanded by Generals Darryl Trickier and Bob Biairlb. As we were talking with the generals our ears were led astray by very unusai music. This music, we were toid, was composed and di- rected by the jazz virtuosso Jim Hostetier and featured his I..unic Five , which included Gary Yancey, the cooi cat on the drums. We went over to see Jim and Gary. Gary informei us that his friends Gary Fisher and Maurice Bailey had be- come partners in the first movie theatre on the moon. Jim asked us if we would iike to go to the theatre with him and see the very popuiar Around the Moon in 80 Daysu. We accepted the invitation and had a wonderful time. We were also very pieasantiy received by Robert Salisbury, who was a recep- tionist at the space port. She had ieft Phelps soon after graduation, and it had been a iong time since I had seen her. After she toid us that Father Rubery had established a mission there, and that Yvonne Hartman, Pat Preece, and Fiorence Sinack were aii doctors at the Moon Memorial Hospital Roberta asked about other members of the ciass, whom she hadn't seen for I0 years. We toid her that Betty Main and Ann iddings were married soon after graduationg Anne is happily iiving in Uaks Corners, and Betty and her husband iive in Clifton, next door to Donna Gordner and her famiiy. Berta was especiaiiy happy to hear from her good friend: Dorty Upchurch was iiving in Cavino, California, and that her young son Mike had just won his first Junior Dragster Award tan hereditary traitii A sudden cosmic storm befeii us and we were forced to take sheiterg the ciosest buiiding was Nieisnersu, the moonss version of a 5 61' IOC store. Gn a sign above the door we noticed that the store was managed by the spikes. The name sounded familiar: and I was convinced that my anticipation of Beraidineys advancement in this fieid was Certainly a reaiity, for she and her husband managed this beautiful store. Beraidine toid us that Janice Craig and Caroi VanDyne were both married to men in the Marines, and both iive in France Where their husbands are stationed. Contiued
