Adams, Lockeineyer, Ridley The baud received outstanding recognition when it was invited to play for one of the main sessions of the Zone Meeting, New York State Teachers Association, in Rochester in October, 1946. The group created a very favorable impression on an audience of 3500 teachers land the members were thrilled by the experience of play- ing on the stage of Loew's Rochester Theatre. In May,, the band participated in the competition-festival of the New York Music Association held at Oswego State Teachers College. When the judges posted the ratings, our band was one of the few rated excellent, Ratings received by solo contest-ants weirle as follows: Joyce Tiffany, French Horn, superior, Shirley Peek, clarinet, excellent, Carol Fridley, saxophone, excellent, Nancy Clark, piano, excellent, Jean Bishop, French horn, excellent, Barbara Filiatreau, baritone horn, excellent, Richard Gheney and Alfred Overslaugh, drums, good. 41

Swing Band .t Lrst1iowg Clark, Scherbyn, Vanldlemel, Overslaugh, Adams Second Row: Cstandingb Mr. Fraser, director, Howe, King, Fridley, Mr. Hartman, director A Swing Land was organized during the year and made its first appearance in November for a Sophomore assembly. After that we played aften 11ome basketball games for dancing. V In January, Mr. Hartmann started as the director. :On February 14th we went to Victor Central School as a part of an assembly program. We furnished music for dancing at the Fun Nightv sponsored by the Student Council. It was held on a Friday night in March. 43
