. --U asap.. ,,f The teachers, administrators, and school board were lcept busy this year with more students in school than ever before, As a result, the largest faculty in the history of Pettisville school taught this year. Supt. D. E, Springer had a private ofhce. Mrs. Miriam Ray, school secretary, had charge of the larger general oflice. The school board decided school policy in a new board and faculty room. The elementary department, in a new building, was a completely separate unit this year. Every grade but one was divided, so there were two teachers and two rooms for every grade except the third. Several new teachers were added to the stalT. Witli more room and fewer pupils, teachers could spend more time with the individual children, This made the school year enioyable tor both pupils and teachers. 544046 The high school spread out this year to occupy the entire old building. Several rooms were remodeled tor use as high school rooms. The home economics department was redone, and now consists of two rooms, kitchen and sewing room. The seventh and eighth grades had home rooms downstairs They had block periods in these rooms. These were taught by Mrs. Thelma Rychener and Prin. lvlarlc Ray, respectively. .ga same

67 Special activities made the school year tun and meaningful tor many of the high school students. Student council put into Practice many student suggestions this year. FFA, FHA, and FTA were ot interest to many. The publications department was ci beehive ot valuable activity. A new Board of Publications was organized, to take over this department next year. Other workers made the school an enioye able place to work and study. 45 The music year, though not a contest-winning one, was certainly progressive. Mr. Charles Spencer, the new teacher tor both vocal and instrumental music, made several innovations in the music pro- gram, A large mixed choir, dressed in beautiful new robes, gave many concerts. The music boosters, who bought the robes, worked hard for the music department. Other music groups included band, girls and boys glee, and iunior choir. 55 Www The boys really showed what they had this year under the direc- tion ot the three coaches. The basketball team won the county league crown, and entered district competition. The baseball team took the county league championship also, These victories, combined with an unusual intramural program, made the year one to remember. For the tirst time, a homecoming game was played, and a queen was crowned in a beautiful ceremony. gspdftfd df
