BAND Due to the graduation of last year the band had to be rebuilt in most of its sections. After the first of the year it began to show some progress which continued throughout the rest of the year. Our director, Mr. Bteigely, has worked hard to improve the band and we feel that he has accomplished much in this way. The hand played for the junior class play and other school activities. ORCH BTRA Progress is the keynote to success. To say our orchestra has struck the keynote is to say it has been successful. During the past year the orchestra has shown much improvement under the di- rection of Mr. Steigely. It played for various school programs and whenever called upon by the community. A number of students from the lower grades, who play instruments, were brought into the orchestra. We are expecting big things from those who are starting while they are in the lower grades. X 29 'N

N lmf nl CHORUS The chorus has done much to help promote harmony in school life this year. The interest which the members of the chorus and the school have shown in it have helped to make it a success. The chorus gave a very successful performance of the operetta, ABI THE PROFESSOR, in which the members were given an opportuni- ty to display their talents. 28

X l LITERARY SOCIETIES The literary societies this year were made up of the students from the classes seven to twelve inclusive. The seventh, ninth, and e- leventh grades formed oneg the eighth, tenth, and twelfth grades formed the oth- er. The former organization elected Helen Rychener president and Marjorie Siegsl vice-president and the latter elected Lawrence Weber president, Florence Richer vice-president, and Trula Clair secretary-treasurer. The programs given by both societies were educational as well as intertain- ing. The program committees and the students deserve credit for the way they oo- operated and for the effort they put forth in preparing the programs which were given every other Friday. SAILING HOME MAKERS This year the home economics club had a larger membership than ever before. Early in the fall we met and organized. The officers were as follows: president, Dorothy Ruetzg vice-president, Georgia Huber, secretary-treasurer, Trula Clalrg chairman of the program committee, Wauneta Wyse. Our programs were very inter- esting and educational. They included a style show, a kitchen cabinet band, and personal grooming. At Christmas time we had a party, exchanged gifts, and served refreshments. Miss Gigax was our advisor and we feel she has worked very hard to make our club a success. 30
