ATHLETIC BANQUET The P-Club hosted its annual Athletic Banquet on April 3, 1986. Brenda Staashelm, secretary treasurer, opened the program with the Invocation. A roast beef dinner was prepared by the school cooks. Beverages were served by the Junior High students. Vice-presi- dent Dan Knust gave the welcoming address. Paul Koch, president, introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Henry Waechter. Mr. Waechter is a former member of the UNL football team and is a present member of the Chicago Bears professional football team. Mr. Waechter stressed the importance of finishing your high school and college education. Following Mr. Waechter's speech was the presentation of athletic awards. The Pep Club awards and an- nouncement of the 1986-87 Cheerleaders followed the athletic awards. 28

AWARDS NIGHT The Pirate Academic Awards Night Program was held on May 6. Faculty members presented awards in their respective courses and Activity Awards were presented by the activity sponsors. The Home Economics, Fine Arts, and Industrial Arts projects were on display for parents and guests to view. The Petersburg Booster Club served refresh- ments following the program.
