FALL PLAY Are Teachers Human? by James Reach, is a three-act comedy about the problems of presenting a very original play. Arbutis Meadows, a young teacher, finds complica- tions and romance when she decides to coach the senior play. The play, written by a student. Hortense Anderson, is a poetic tragedy in free verse. The play was performed on November 26, 1986, in conjunction with the annual Chili Supper, which was sponsored by the Class of 1987. Best actress went to Gina Koch for her portrayal of Dolores Stone, the jealous and somewhat spoiled daughter of the school board president. Best actor was presented to Henning Bochert for his excellent characterization of the new princi- pal, Edward Fowler. Top right, Dolores looks on lovingly as Edward asks Mr. Stone for his daughter's hand in marriage. Above center, Liza Felton, senior, fails to comprehend the good advice of school secretary, Betty Gregg. Above, Coach Mike Lang argues against Miss Meadows' decision to flunk the star football player, Puddenhead Pye. Bottom right, Shorty Welsh, Betty Gregg, Puddenhead Pye. and Jeff Sand- ers celebrate the play's success. 24
