20 SPIRIT WEEK The Homecoming activities began with Spirit Week again this year. Each day, the students wore crazy costumes that revealed their true school spirit. The hi- larity began with “Nerd Day , when stu- dents dressed in unmatched clothes, highwater pants, and horn-rimmed glasses. Students doubled their already growing spirit on Twins Day . Cow- boys and Indians Day was observed on Wednesday and on Thursday, students kept their cool by wearing sunglasses and sweats on Sweats Day . The wild week was topped off with the traditional Purple and White Day . Top, These Seniors keep their cool'' by dressing up for Sweats Day . Middle, Amy Bottorf, Troy Friese, Julie Petsche, Christy Johnson, Neil Baumgartner, Jason O'Cilka, and Tanya Jennings get roped up into the spirit of Cowboys and Indians Day . Bottom, Juniors Jennifer O'Cilka and Brenda Spieker, Senior Brenda Staashelm and Sophomore Gina Koch double their spirit by dressing up for Twin Day .

ONE-ACT This year P.H.S. put on a one-act play entitled No Why . The play concerned a young boy who, after committing a crime, attempted sui- cide. For their outstanding efforts, the cast received an excellent at Confer- ence One- Act Contest. They also received the first Superior in the history of the P.H.S. speech depart- ment, at Districts. Outstanding Conference actors and actress were Jerry Stuhr, Henning Bochert, and Gina Koch. Gina Koch and Jerry Stuhr were also rec- ognized at Districts. Top right, Henning Bochert in his excellent portrayal of Grandfather. Above left. Rod Stuhr is reprimanded for his crime by his mother, Brenda Staashelm, and his father, Jerry Stuhr. Above right, the boy's aunt, Gina Koch, compares his evil ways with those of her own perfect son, while Kim Thieman looks on. Left, Jerry Stuhr, the evil boy's father, pun- ishes him for his acts. Bottom left, Jeff Scholl, portraying the boy's cousin, gives him his only encourage- ment .

Top right. Many students expressed their feelings for their opponent, the Elgin Eagles, by dressing up for Nerd Day . Middle left. The song T Want to be a Cowboy , inspired Seniors Jackie Thieman, Diane Spieker, and Sharon Wilton to dress up on Cowboy and Indians Day . Middle right. The cheerleaders made the poster which in- formed students of upcoming Spirit Week activities. Bottom left, The nerdy Freshmen follow the good advice: Be yourself . 21
