The Speech Class wrote and produced an original Christmas play, 'The Meaning of Christmas. By use of a time machine ' three present-day children traveled with Santa Claus back to 1933, when homemade, inexpensive gifts brought much happiness, and forward to the near-future, where Christmas had lost all meaning, because gift-giving was an everyday occurence. Back home in the present, the three travelers discover the real meaning of Christmas. The Petersburg Senior Citizens were special guests at the afternoon performance on 21 December. Top left, the time-travelers are amazed at the joy and happiness the family, Gina Koch, Tom Miller, Craig Seier and Neil Ketteler, could experience with homemade gifts and decorations. Center left, Santa Claus, Neil Baumgartner, invites the children, Rene Petsche, Lee Ketteler and Lisa Thieman, to enter his machine. Above, the travelers are off to Christmass—Past, Present and Future. At left, the future family, Amy Bottorf, Gina Koch, Neil Ketteler, Tom Miller and Jim Knust, are totally bored with Christmas. In the background, Troy Friese mans the switch box to illuminate each scene. DORIS'S FLORAL AND GIFTS 134 South 4th Street Albion, NE 395-6050 BLAIR MOTORS Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Elgin. NE 843-2225 27
