THE Young Men’s Christian Association is one of the worthiest organizations in college. But worthiness is not its only attribute, for a "good time had by all” aptly describes every meeting.
The Y. M. C. A. this year carried out a project that has never before been used at Peru. This was the organization of a Gospel team. This group prepared a religious program consisting of vocal and instrumental music and the Biblical drama, "Courage.” They presented this program as a special service in the churches at Peru and elsewhere. From this beginning, the work of the Gospel Team is expected to grow and become an important part of the Y. M. C. A. activities.
One of the major achievements of the Association was the Father and Son banquet held in the early fall. This is an annual event and is attended by real fathers with their sons and by many of the college men who bring younger boys from the Training School.
The purpose of the Y. M. C. A. has been stated many times, but it expresses in a few words the basic meaning of the organization and can well bear repetition: "The purpose of Young Men’s Christian Association is to lead men to faith in God; to unify the student body in its purpose in action; and to promote growth in character and fellowship among men.”
The officers for the past year have been: Raymond Trenholm, president; Elmer Hertel, vice-president; Dean Grass, treasurer; John Bath, secretary; and Edwin Booth, program chairman.
