The 1962-63 Basketball Tigers completed a
siiccesslul season, winning l5 and losing 9
This was accomplished in spite of their facing
top-notch Competition. The Tigers played sev-
eral teams of state-wide ranking and more
than held their own against them. The high-
light of the season was the Bengals upset of
mi :h1y lndianapolis Tech, the largest school
in the state, riinlced ninth at the time The
Tigers riiiit a successful end to the season by
winning the Sectional with Comparative ease.
ln the first game the Tigers rolled over highly-
regarded North Caston and then soundly beat
neighboring North Miami. In the champion-
ship game the Bengals faced Clay, the team
that had beaten them in the final Sectional
game in V362 This time things were differ-
ent, however, as the Tigers beat the Indians,

Because of the distance' and expense in-
volved in traveling to meets, wrestling,
which has always been a winter sport at
pl-iS, was dropped this year. instead, a
iveight-lifting program was instituted so that
more boys would have the opportunity to
keep in shape all vear long. Held three
days a week throughout the winter at the
lunior High School, the program involved
chiefly underclassinen who wanted to keep
in shape for football, Mr. Robert Larson,
who directed the program, supervised the
boys in various beneficial exercises. He was
assisted by three seniors, Sain Phillipy, Keith
Bird and Frank Anderson.
