But rain couldn’t dampen that Mustang Spirit. It was the day of Homecoming, and anticipation filled the air. Queen was Alicia Parish, senior maids were Kathy Johnson and Cindy Lamb. Junior maids were Mary Kay Vandivere and Lisa Grendell. Sophomores chose Kim Price and Chris Eaton. Representing the freshman class were Lisa Pearson and Heidi Brown. Eighth grader Jeannie Hawkins and seventh grader Nancy Cripps served as maids for their classes. The days of hard work and preparation paid off as the court was presented to the students during the afternoon assembly. The queen and each of the maids were escorted by two senior high football team members. A pep rally followed, during which the cheerleaders gave out awards from spirit week and gave the team members their good luck garters. That night, during the pregame ceremony, royalty was escorted by their fathers. Arrows flew in every direc- tion as the Mustangs trounced Lavaca for a 34-0 homecoming victory. After the game, a dance was sponsored by the junior class. 15
