Perryville, Arkansas BOARD OF EDUCATION READING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Luther Doughty, Mr. L. O. Lakey, Mr. J. A. Shelton, Mr. Glenn Wal- lace, Secretary; Mr. Heburn Moore, President. Because the staff feels that unselfish service often goes unnoticed, we are dedicating this annual to our board of education who serves - - without recompense except for the satisfaction of helping promote the school plans set forth by our superintendent and his administration. ADA ISTI TION Superintendent's Message The main aim of education today is to remain a democracy. The democratic gov- ernment is the most difficult on earth. Never in the history of man has education been so important as it is today. The boys and girLs must be brought to reaLize how our freedom was obtained and be taught how to keep freedom, for you are the ones upon whose shouLders this respon- sibility rests. A few years ago all a person had to do to be a good citizen was to obey the Laws; but to be a good citizen in our modern civili- zation, a person needs to be informed not only on local, state, and national affairs, but also on world affairs.
