Ron did a really fine job as end in both his Sophomore and Iunior year, in which he was chosen on the Blade All GNC team An ankle 1n1ury kept hlm from football in h1s Senior year He made up for 1t though rn his basketball ab1l1ty and techniques He was again this year a scoring ace and has been the GNC h1gh scorer for three years He was second tallest rnan on the team being 6 4 Ron also showed up tme in baseball by being a typ1cal trrst baseman a long hltter We can truly say Ron has scored high in the sports he played and contributed his ability w1ll1ngly and it w1ll be tough getting someone to f1ll his place T5 1953 54 Basketball King Ron Sunmons Phil Whitner and perhaps we could call h1m Rons side kick really showed up thls year 1n football as he was chosen on the Blade All GNC team S1nce Phll was one of the b1ggest boys on the team he played a fine Job as tackle He was a follow up ln basketball and played a hard game This being his second year on the Varsity team d1d not hinder Phil but he showed up fine and helped rack up the points to put Perrysburg ln third place in the GNC league Phil also took h1s stand ln baseball He had good technrques and knew the tricks of baseball slnce he was hlllng the pos1t1on of catcher We must say that Phil will be a letterman that will be hard to replace 1n the field of sports Phil Whxtner I M, Q , pw.
