Rinehart Mr. John Rinehart came to Perrys- burg High School in l947. Mr. Rinehart earned his B.S. in Edu- cation and his MA. in Sociology and School Administration at Bowling Green State University. He has done work toward his PhD. at the Univer- sity of Wisconsin and at Ohio State University where he has been working this tall and winter. Donald Canfield, Director of Guid- ance was acting Superintendent in Mr. Rinehart's absence. RING MASTERS O. C. Treece Mr. Treece earned his B.S. in Edu- cation at Bowling Green State Univer- sity and his MA. at Columbia University. ln addition to Mr. Treece's duties as principal, he teaches a class in Algebra I. We have found through four years of high school that our principal can always find time to encourage us when the going gets tough and set us back on the right path when we begin to wonder. The lead- ers af the herd were Bill Whitner, Peg Wiser, Sue Sarver, and Nancy Mainz. Under the capable direction of Mrs. Braun, Mrs. McHugh, and Mr. Peters, the pack enjoyed a party, dance and picnic. In the Sophomore year the seals progressed to the position of clowns and had a lot of fun in this role. The chief clowns were John Huebner, Nancy Ford, Kathryn Adams, and Marjorie Zoll. Mr. Huebner, Mr. Straw, and Miss Reuthinger were the ringleaders and helped the clowns sponsor a Valen- tine Day Dance, a convocation, a picnic and o splash party. He is also one of the hardest hitting. Phil played mostly defense and hit many a man trying to get through his spot in the line. DON KAETZEL Guard Junior Don was another one of the Perrysburg guards that could play both offense and de- fense well. This year he was chosen by the Blade for their all G.N.C. team. DAVE QUIDORT Tackle Senior Dave is another one of the big boys on the team. He had all the drive and deter- mination of any of the fel- lows on the team, but lacked in experience. Dave's deter- mination though, gave him the spot of defensive tackle. JOHN WOOLLEY Tackle Senior John Woolley was chosen by his fellow team mates to be co-captain in his senior year. His drive and ability to block gave him one of the first posi- tions on the team. He was also a good defensive player and will be looked upon for help next year. BILL WILLIAMS Guard Junior Bill is one of the quietest boys on the team, but he is also one of the toughest, This year he was chosen by his teammates to receive the Blade Most Valuable Substitute award, GILES WIDEMAN Tackle Sophomore Another one of the Sopho- mores on the team is Giles Wideman, who played tackle position. In his next two years, Perrysburg will be looking forward to Giles holding down this position. MERLIN EMCH Guard Senior Buddy was the team's clown, but when things get tough, Bud could be counted on to do his best. He played defense mostly but was called to offensive duty when needed. DAVE H UFFORD Quarterback Senior Dave has played three years of varsity ball at Perrysburg and this year was placed on the Blade all GNC. team. He also received the Eagles award for the Most Valu- able Player of the Maumee, Perrysburg, game. JIM BURKHART Halfbock Senior Fuzzy as Jim was called on the field, played his first football at Bowling Green High School. His senior year, Fuzzy showed that he had everything it takes to be a football player. DON CARTER End Senior Don Carter was an end but played defensive halfback most of the time. He snag- ned many an opponent's pass and downed many an end runner. Don helped the morale and spirit of the team in many ways. RON SIMMONS End Junior Ron played both offense and defense. His ability to play football was shown this year as he was chosen for the Blade All G.N,C. team. P.H.S. is looking for Ron's biggest and better year in '53 DICK SAVIAL End Junior At end, Dick Savial can be found. He was one of the best pass receivers Perrys- burg had in '52 Perrys- burg will be looking for Dick's punting ability next year when they are in the rough. BOB DAUER End Senior Bob, the converted drum major, as he was called on the field, was one of the best offensive and defensive ends that Perrysburg ever had, Bob only started this year but he proved that he has what it takes to be a good football player. JERRY SHIPLE Fullback Senior ln Jerrys four years t Perrysburg he has proven himself so much that he was chosen fo th All GNC team picked by the Toledo Times sports writers Jerry also had the honor of receiving the most valuable player award FRED WIDEMAN Halfback Junior At right half back we find Fred Wideman playing both offense and defense. He is a good kicker and w'll be expected to help out on a lot of running next year. Ron Hufford, Halfback, Sr. Ron was not able to play very much in his senior year because of injuries received in this year. ln Ron's sophomore and ju- nior years he received honorable mention on the Blade's All G.N.C. team. He was also picked by Sylvania School Paper for their all opponent team in his senior year. John Platt, Center, Sr. At defensive linebacker, Perrysburg was able to look to John Piatt. John made the Toledo Times All G.N.C. team and Honorable Mention on the Blade G.N.C. team. -v- Bob Server, Fullback Sr. Five foot, one hundred thirty-five pounds shows that Bob Sarver is one of the smallest boys. He was chosen the best sub of the year in his sopho- more year. Bob has been a help to the team. Jim Mullen, Center, Soph. Although only a Junior, he has been picked on the GNC team for 2 years. He has also been the GNC high scorer for 2 years. This year he main- tained a 22,5 average in league play. Much is expected of Ron next year. Junior-forward Phil Whitner-Phil just started out for basketball this year. He was pulled up from the reserve teams for the last 3 varsity games, and the tournament. Phil looks like a prom- isina high scorer for next year. Senior-guard John Piatt-John was one of the senior boys who didn't get to play too much, but when he was needed you could always count on him to be ready. He always gave his best. Senior-gua rd Tom Smith-Tom is the team play- maker, and is an outstanding set shot artist. Tom is one of the fastest boys on the team, and has had a large share in the rebound and scoring de- partments. He has been mentioned on the GNC team.
