' Education in the classroom is a basis for learning, a place where the student is given an opportunity to discuss, question, and evaluate until the core of understanding is reached. Learning also takes places in athletics, clubs, and organizations by practicing leadership and communications. These are some of the experiences which help our youth prepare for the future. Bob Rideout, Tom Gorham, and Gordy Woolbert fight for the rebound against the Marlington Dukes. WW Physical fitness is an important part ot our school program and includes activities and courses of study which are associated with the student's health, safety, and recreation. ln health courses one learns how to keep physically tit, and in gym class one participates in exercising activities which help to build strong and well bodies. A healthy student will be a better student. Perry fights to gain revenge after Fairless returns the kick off. They practiced all summer for the Richville Homecoming, the Stark County Fair, the Memorial Day Parade, and all of the football games. The maiorettes must also play an instrument in concert band during the winter months. Thus, because of these activities and yearly try-outs, the girls must practice, practice, practice. This makes for the good line of maiorettes, which Perry' has always had. MAJORETTES Kathi Klick Pat Kosierowsku Michelle Wise Cindy Fair Cheadl, Peggy Johnson, Sue Stipes, Margo DeParis. Edit! Contrary to public opinion, the band is not organized solely as a means of entertainment. In Fact, its maior purpose is to provide an outlet for creative ability in the field of instrumental music. The instrumental students at Perry are given a back- ground in the fundamentals of music through the- ory and music appreciation courses. Throughout the school year, the band has numerous musical activities: It provides halt time shows for lO foot- ball games, gives both a Christmas and Spring concert, participates in Stark County and District Xlll Contests, marches in community parades, and performs at Commencement and Baccalaureate.
