DEDICATION - RON ARCHIBALD Guts! Determination! Drive! Ambition! Initiative! Fortitude! That these words be used in the dedication of a yearbook seems as out of place as a ballerina on a football field. For the above words' are generally used to describe athletes or soldiers in modern American newspapers. Seldom have those words been used to describe the dedicatee of a yearbook. This yearis Clock dedicatee typifies the multitude of Perry Township citizens who have dis- played a similar deeply sincere interest in our schools and their students. Like Willimn Rolland, Arthur Blank, john Frenz jr., Ed Halter and the many others who at one time presided over our school adult organizations, this year's dedicatee is also a leader. For he is now vice-president of the Adult Booster Club. But more important to the members of the Perry Local School district, this year's dedicatee shouldered a task that was gargantuan in size and successful in every respect. He created, initi- ated, and saw through its completion the Investment In Youth project which received acclaim from local and national VIP's. Q. Edgar Hoover, FBI head, considered the endeavor suffici- ently worthy to write a letter commending the projectj The Investment In Youth Project was initiated primarily to complete the physical facilities of the football stadium which got its first seats from another adult organization, The Booster Club. However, the endeavor set its sights on higher goals than just assisting athletics - it aimed to help, in some way, all schools in the district. And the program did just that! Two thousand stadium seats, a press box and a refreshment stand ffor the band parentsj were erected on the Perry High athletic field, cash allotments were given to Genoa, Lohr, Reedurban, Richville, Watson, and Whipple elementary schools, equipment was purchased for the athletic department, junior high school and senior high school bands, and choir. The Booster club received money to help pay for the original seats which were purchased before the con- struction of the new stadium, and the publications department was presented with a much needed photographic enlarger. The total amount raised fall of which was given to the schools in the communityj was SlS22,000, 358,200 of which was raised in the community. Because of his devoted interest in the Perry district schools and their students and his un- selfish desire to help the community, the 1962 Clock staff proudly dedicates this book to Mr. Ron Archibald. qv' ' V 3-7 , Q ' dy 'W Q, ' ,ad Q7 YQ7 1 M ,J it-' 5 fl' l x - ' fl .x 1 I -N -'- .f 1 ' rt -X W EH! ACADEMICS, EXTRA-CURRICULAR, and THE COMMUNITY, YOU AND THE SCHOOL, the three facets of the coat of arms, have one goal-the education of the youth of Perry Township. What could be more fitting? Adults are George Edwards, Dr. Robert Allison, Mrs, Douglas, and Mr. Arthur Blank. QW
