x V, 6 tx gxa -f If ll Academics 'Flaw-ws. Working in oils senior Dave Kauffman, one of Perry's outstanding art students develops his talents in an art class. Tria Iuneta In Uno Embossed in brilliant gold metallic on the cover of this year's Clock is a new coat of arms devised by the staff of this year's annual. After many hours of searching for an appropriate theme, the coat of arms was decided upon by the staff to be t-he unifying structure for this year's yearbook. After hours of heated discussions, exchange of ideas, bitter disagreements, joyous agreements, and anxious frustrations, the staff finally decided upon a coat of arms which it felt would precisely portray all facets of the school in a simple, but tasteful manner. De- signed by Clock Editor Chuck Arbuckle, the coat of arms was then given to a commercial artist who did the finished work. A coat of arms is a symbol of unity for a family, for a business, for an organization, or as, in this case,

Each of these three parts symbolizes an important facet of school life. At the top of the seal are located a scroll and mortar board, Because of their position at the topj, the scroll and mortar board symbolize the most impor- tant facet of school lifeaACADEMICS. Academics include all of the courses that a school offers which makes a person better intellectually, morally, physically, and culturally. This not only epitomizes the role of an academic education for a student, but the role of a good academic education in our community, state, na- tion, and world.
