The Perry High yearbook staff had the trenwendous task of pro-
ducing the first annual for the school. Many of the ntentbers of
the staff had no iournalistic training and consequently the iob was
rnuch rnore difficult.
Planning for the yearbook began in March of T958 by Nlr.
Nlattachione and Mr. Burris who were designated by school officials
to advise publication of the book. Among the many things that
they were confronted with was the selection of a staff, the naming
of the book, and getting a contract with a contpany which would
print the "Clock,"
When this was cornpleted, a photographer, Troup and Pluto,
was designated the official photographer for the yearbook by the
senior class. All seniors agreed to have their pictures taken at Troup
and Pluto and in return the studio would take all other pictures
for the yearbook free of charge.
The first pictures were taken in the spring of the T957-58 school
Deadlines, identifications, quotations, all proved to be headaches
for the ntentbers of the editorial staff. For the business staff head-
aches enierged in the forni of difficulty in selling advertising to
nterchants who would supplenient the inconte for the book.
When every iob was conipleted, a sigh of relief cante up. The
sound, it is rumored, was even heard by fanted iournalist Horace
Sntith who has been dead for years.
