A X I 1 Ni Cfaaches M. Atwood M. Beenk C. Commislrey R. Eaton H. Grace Coach Hauclt Captain Perry won the Wyoming County Championship by defeating Attica in a playoff game at LeRoy 75-74. This game, the 60-59 loss to Attica at Perry, and the Perry victory over Batavia were highlights of a season marked by Perry's ability to win the close games and the high point output of the team. Seniors on the squad were: Mike Beenlt, Chuck Commisltey, Buz Grace and jaclt McClUg. P.C.S. Roger Wilklow and Richard Hardy were awarded section shields for placing 2nd and 7th respectively. During the season, the Perry Puffers out- distanced Attica and Oakfield, but were left in the wake of Brockport and Alfred-Almond. Val cyball The Perry Volleyball team had a very suc- cessful year ftill the finalslj. Winning the County with no defeats, they left for Oakfield- Alabama, winning the quarter finals by 15-12 and I5-ll. At Rochester, the next stop, they beat Webster in the semi-finals. The final match with Canisteo found them competing for the Sectioh B title. Perry lost this game. Wrzsfling The varsity wrestling team this year participated in twelve matches, winning the first ten. Our last two opponents were Letchworth and Wellsville, these two being the toughest. We gave them a good match, even though three of our boys were out because of injuries. Bob Green and john Crawford were the Perry wrestlers who won county Championships awards with john winning Class B sectionals at 138 pounds in Rochester. 1571 :ball Every position on the baseball squad was ably filled by veterans of previous years. This factor proved Perry to be, as usual, one of the leading contenders in the county hoop. The team, coached by Mr. Barone and Mr. Baker, shaped up well, so it clicked perfectly on every play. With the spirit to win and the ability to do so, Perry got off to a promising good start. :uni The Perry Tennis team of 1954 is probably the best team in the Wyoming County. They haven't lost any players from the 1953 season and that makes them extra strong. Mr. McCarthy, who is their coach, is really a swell guy to play for, and gets the best results from the team. Crack This season, as in previous years, a large group of candidates turned out at the first call for track practice. Due to the fact that there is no limit as to the number of participants in an event, all the members competed in our meets. There was one major change this year. The team elected co-captains to aid Mr. Whitney from the field. Again, as in the past few seasons, Mr. Whitney has provided the team with excellent coaching. 5 . .f, . ,',n, IK E :x 4 ' ' U 1 f V Min., X rl QQ?
