FLORENCE POSHARD Dean of Girls HENRY STEPPING Dean of Boys -cf ' DR. MARK W. BILLS Superintendent of Schools Acting as Dean of Girls at Peoria High School was Miss Florence Poshard. She counseled girls, worked out honor rolls, enforced ad- ministration policies, and supervised the commencement exercises. Mr. Stepping, in his first year as Dean of Boys, commanded dis- cipline, distributed parking permits, and Was a part of the Senior Na- tional Honor Society selection committee. This was the last year for Dr. Mark Bills to serve as superintendent of Peoria schools. Next Iuly Dr. Claude E. Norcross will take the position. It was the Board's job to determine school policy, finances, teachers' salaries, and business education. dministration In his second year as the prin- HARRY WHITAKER cipal of Peoria High School, Mr. Harry Whitaker, with his positive attitude, commanded the respect and the attention of both students and faculty. Mr. Whitaker attended all functions and banquets where Peoria High students received awards. He wrote letters of recom- mendation for students applying for a job or for college. Well-known around the halls, he greeted stu- dents and often took time to chat with them and to leave them with encouragement. Mr. Whitaker was helped by Mr. Harvey Tucker, assistant principal. This year Mr. Tucker was relieved of many of the disciplinary duties, en- abling him to spend more time with making and planning the master programs in coordination with the counselors and faculty. As activities director, he collected eligibility sheets for cheerleaders and boys in sports. Mr. Tucker not only moved into a new office, but also received a new secretary.
