There was, on the first Sunday, a get acquainted cook-out on the Flight Deck for the intermingling of USN and USMC, Along with this, the first of several Flight Deck barbeques, was a Talent Show in which Chief Master at Arms Brown turned out to be an excellent Chief Master of Ceremonies and led what proved to be an entertaining evening for all. The following Sunday it was noted that the re- mainder ofthe Task Force hopped on the get- acquainted band wagon and on this ship-wide evolution Pepsi held her first Smoker of the cruise. Almost 30 sparring partners participated in this event that started mid-afternoon and continued past dark. fig? 2

,, Departure, Morehead City, N,C,,saw Marine Amphibious Readiness Group KMARGI 2-80 headed east under the command of CAPT'Riendeau embarked in USS GUADAL- CANAL TLPH-72. Other ships in the Task Group were 'USS NASHVILLE KLPD-13j, USS LA MOURE COUNTY fLST-1194j and USS BARNSTABLE COUNTY KLST-11972. The focal point ofthe transit and the entire cruise was ,brought out from the start. Operations De- partment saw a training schedule packed full of Communications drills, ma- neuvering and ,non ma- neuvering drills, publication exercises and anti-aircraft exercises.
