CHESS CLUB The most quiet and probably most in- tense meetings in our school are held by the chess club, whose members meet to play chess and discuss strategy of the game. The school's chess team is chosen from members of the club by elimination matches. In line with its prupose of en- couraging people to play chess, the club sponsors the annual Pennsauken Scholas- tic Chess Tournament. RADIO CLUB The world is a small place to Radio Club members, who communicate with fellow Hams all over the globe. New members are trained in the operation of an amateur radio station, and may gain experience with the club's station. WAZRCJ. A two year procurement pro- gram, at the club's expense, has greatly increased the club's range and versatility. HORTICULTURE CLUB Under the fine supervision of Mrs. Wood, the Horticulture Club has proved to be a great asset to PHS. The Club has undertaken the project of planting shrubs, trees, and Howers on the school grounds. While helping to beautify the school, they are also learning the scien- tihc value of gardening. one hundred and fifty-two Row 1: A. Wainwright, B. Gilman tVice-Presidentl, D. CHEMISTRY CLUB The Chemistry Club involves a group of students interested in supplementing their classroom study of chemistry. Through experiments, they are able to study both theoretical and practical chemistry, thus preparing themselves for the advanced study of chemistry in col- lege. FUTURE PHYSICIANS CLUB The Future Physicians Club acquaints its members with the physician's life and the various branches of medicine. As a result of this orientation, the students will not enter the medical profession unpre- pared. HEALTH CAREERS CLUB The purpose of the Health Careers Club is to create an interest in and pro- vide knowledge of medical careers for the high school student. Guest speakers on health education and careers often make the bi-monthly meetings more in- teresting. To show their interest, many of the members have done volunteer work in local hospitals. one hundred and fifty-one

ANNOUNCERS The Voices of Pennsaukenn and their supporters know that more goes into the announcer's job than just a set of vocal cords. Cold mornings spent stringing tele- phone wire and hanging speakers were compensated for only by a penguin's eye view of the games. Despite hard bleach- ers and numb limbs, these homespun technicians take pride in their unusual position. DRAMATICS The Drama Club was revised this year with new advisors, Mrs. Roberta Gold- man and Mrs. Anyce Miles, and fresh spirit. Along with their goal of learning the techniques of play production, the mem- bers discuss and hear lectures on drama and take field trips to the theatre. The club has presented several productions during the year. one hundred and fifty-three
