Dr. Robert Earl Tidwell State Superintendent of Education 1927-1931 R. E. Tidwell was born at Blount Springs, Alabama, July 21, 1883, the son of Robert and Nannie Graves Tidwell. He attended school in Blountsville and gradu ated in the class of 1901. He has held many places of leadership in the state, among them are: Dean of Extension Divsion and Professor of Education, Univer- sity of Alabama, 1930-1945. The extension building at the University of Ala- bama was named for him. He was Assistant to the President of Stillman College 1945 and the Dean 1957-1960.
