The whole summer lay aheadg giving us ample time to prepare for so we thoughth. Aside from play- ing l, 2, 3 everybody olT my apple tree', and arguing constantly, this time was put to good use. New uniforms were ordered, formations and cheers made up, and shoes, tights, and blouses bought. At first the squad seemed plagued by problems like pulled muscles, ripped pants, and falling off steps into bushes fright Marie?J But everything worked out for the better to produce a squad that's been the best! SUDDE LY IT'S MAY Once upon a time to the tune of Narcissus , Eugene and Karen were crowned King and Queen of the May. They reigned over the royal court of Penn High School. Under the direction of Mrs. Larson, the Senior girls prepared a program to present before the court. A thunderstorm broke prior to the ceremonies adding to the nervous- ness of everyone. As bedlam raged in the locker rooms, a perfect fwell, al- mostj show was enacted in the gym. Spinning wheels turned while flags furled. A tear came to the eye and a lump to the throat as we watched Karen and Eugene climb the steps for the final time. Suddenly, It's Mayu is nowjust a fond memory.
