Classes prove to be a challenge. For many it is an introduction to the unfamiliar lecture method of pre- sentation. Notes assume paramount importance and the syllabus presents the long range objective of the course, leaving the responsibility for meeting this objective with the individual. Life falls into a pattern of class attendance and study and concentration. We now realize the depth of our commitment, although at times we try to forget it.

 Life in a college dormitory is a world apart from previous experience; as the weeks pass, the feeling of being part of a large cooperative body increases. The faces on the floor are familiar now, the tenseness of the early weeks dissipates and a relaxed camaraderie replaces it. It is no longer so abominable to cross Parking Lot 80 or to be compressed into a study lounge in McElwain. The shared conversation almost makes the dining hall bearable; warmth increases. 14
