MRS. KATHARINE RUSSELL MR. J. R. KINGSBURY Teachers ' Review Time: August 28, 1948 Place: Sports Arena, Toledo, Ohio Event: Today is an all day teachers' meeting preparatory to the opening of school, Sep- tember 8th. For this occasion is planned for the a. m. a business meeting, of which Miss Harrison, our Commercial teacher, will read the minutes of the last meeting and record those of this meeting: and for the p, m. the teachers have planned a program for the benefit of the public. Since our su- perintendent, Mr. Thompson, and Historv teacher, Mr. Palmer, happen to be in charge we see many Pembervillians. Won't you join us? Mr. Thompson: Good afternoon, folks. We the teachers of Wood County sincerely wish you a. hearty welcome to the Teachers Re- view, I know you are all anxious to see this program so sit back, relax, and on with the program! Mr. Announcer- -- Announcer: As our characters come on the stage, I will introduce them. Our first group are those from Pemberville. At this point a tall, well groomed lady comes on the stage. She has 'a white jacket with many little pockets in it over her dress. In these pockets is a tape measure, scissors, marking czhalk, and packs of needles. Yes. this is the Home Economics teacher, Mrs, Baker. Sihe is fitting a. pattern on Mrs. Russell, the Mathemat- ics instructor, well liked by everyone. Mrs. Rus- sell is in charge of all high school Math and is the Sophomore sponsor. They seem to be dis- cussing a book they are reading, when who should appear but Mrs. Cornell, who is inter- ested in all types of Literature. She is the High School English teacher and also is the senior sponsor, She has read the book and is explaining the mysterious plot of the story when a jolly. little, man comes skipping on the stage witih a violin case in one hand and many workbooks in the other. It is our Music teacher, Mr. Kings- lzury. He is teaching 8th English, Public Speaking, and all Music. At this time, every- thing disappears and out of a cloud of smoke comes Mr. Heckman, who is instructing thc Science class's and also is the Freshman spon- sor, He is discussing the atomic bomb with Mr. Thompson, thc American Governiment teacher, and Mr. Palmer, wfho is the 7th spotisar, En- g'ish tewcher, and History teacher, as well 'as the boys Jr. High Plhys. Ed. coach. Mr, Palmer changes tihe subject to the basketball games which his Jr. High team have played when Mr, Madaras, our high school coach, appears. Mr. Madaras is also the instructor of Manual Train- ing and Mechanical Drawing for the 'high school boys. A brief intermission is observed. Mr, Announcer: The stage is now being trans- formed into an elementary atmosphere.. As the curtain is pulled an alert little lady is printing first grade spelling words on the blackboard. Need we say, this is Mrs, Bai- ley, who has started many youngsters off with an open mind and eager to learn more. A few feet to the rigiht of Mrs. Bailey's blackboard is a lady tacking paper figures on a. bulletin board. She is amid a large group of gay little second graders. It is Mrs. Bruning, The scene changes and now appear three lines of enthusiastic children with their instructors. What is it: a spelling bee? No, it seems they are having a multiplication quiz. Miss Fahle, Mrs. Rhoades, and Miss Gockerman, tlhe fifth, fourth and third grade teachers are conducting this quiz. Evidently the fifth grade pupils have won the quiz because they are filing into the sixth grade classroom where their arrival is awaited by Miss Bmning and anxious students And now Uhe fallen curtain engulfs another year of understanding, THE PEMBERVILLE ELEVATOR ASS'N Your own co-operative Everything in Farm Supplies and Farmers Service FARM 8: HOME HARDWARE
