. 3 i v SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In September of 1944 our class of twenty-nine stu- dents began our High School Days, hoping to ac- quire knowledge that would be a benefit to us in years to come years to come. VVe started our Freshman year with Mr. Heckman as our class sponsor. WVe received four new pupils: Romayne Abke, Desta Dierksheide, Norma Ernsthaus- en and Kenneth Sieving from New Rochester. VVe chose as our class officers: President --- Marian Cochran Vice President --- Norma Ernsthausen Secretary --- Ellen WVegman Treasurer --- JoAnn Gockerman Reporter ---Lois Vvigman During the year we had a skating party at Per- rysburg., also a party at the school. Summer passed quickly and we were once more back in school with twenty-seven pupils to start the Sophomore year with Mrs. Cornell as our sponsor. Howard Nollenberger joined us in January. VVe chose the following as our class officers: President --- Kenneth Sieving Vice President --- Robert Kohring Secretary --- Ellen WVegman Treasurer --- Margaret Henline Reporter --- Norma Ernsthausen VVe were proud of our Sophomore boys when they won the interclass tournament, and a party was given for them by the girls. Several of our fellows were on the reserve basketball team. The big event of the year was selecting our class r'ngs. XVe were very proud to wear them when We re- ceived them at the end of the year. Fall came around again, this time we were enter- ing school as Juniors. YVe numbered twenty-seven when we added Francis Venis as a new member. During the year we lost one pupil., Beulah Baker. VVe were again sponsored by Mrs. Cornell. YVe elected the following officers: President --- JoAnn Gockerman Vice President --- Howard Nollenberger Secretary --- Norma Ernsthausen Treasurer --- Scott Muir Reporter --- Hilda Wventland A big event for us was our class play, entitled Listen to Lester, given November 8, 1946, under the direction of Mrs. Cornell. During the year we sponsored a high school dance. YVe also had charge of cooking and serving the Eleva- tor Banquet. These were ways of earning money for the trip we were planning to take at the end of our Senior year. Of course the biggest event of all and the long awaited for event was the Junior-Senior Prom held on May 9th. Much time was spent in preparation. The theme was a garden scene. Punch was served in a wishing well in a corner of the auditorium, with wish- ing wells in the middle of each table. The orchestra was placed under a summer house with roses twined around it. The food was good and everyone had an enjoyable time. September 1947 --- the year which we had waited so patiently for came at last. We were Seniors, all twenty-six of us.. Mrs. Cornell was our sponsor again. We chose the following officers: President --- Scott Muir Vice President --- Hilda Wentland Secretary --- Gene Kohring tContinuedb jACOB'S 'MARKET Meats Food Lockers Luckey, Ohio I 2

SENIOR CLASS HISTORY---fC0ntinuedJ Treasurer --- Kenneth Sieving Reporter --- Lois VVigman The first event of the year was the photographing of our class at the Dicken's Studio in Fostoria on O tober two. Again several of our boys were on the basketball teams. Magazine sale, banquets and a play increased our treasury. VVe chose as our class motto Success Awaits at La- bor's Gate. Our class colors were red and white. On April 30, we gave our play under the direction of Miss Crafts. Then came the Junior-Senior Banquet on May 7, an event that will linger in our memories. The Baccalaureate Service was held on May 16. May 21 was Commencement. Mr. Fred Klag gave an interesting talk. To all our teachers, and especially to Mrs. Kfornell, we offer our thanks for their patience, advice and guid- ance. Now that the year has drawn to a close, we shall never forget the four years we spent together. VVe have shared happiness and disappointments but our high school days will ever linger in our memories.
