Ladner said Favre, as a leader in his profession, has recorded many honors socially and professionally and has been a tremendous supporter of Pearl River College since his graduation. He has brought many honors to his family, his profession and Pearl River College, Ladner said. Favre graduated from Mississippi State University in 1943 and served as Hancock County ' s youngest Superintendent of Education from 1943-47. He graduated from the University of Mississippi Law School in 1950 and then joined Judge Dan Russell Jr., in his law firm in 1951 . He is a member and past president of the Hancock County Bar Association. In 1977, Mr. Favre was selected King Neptune of the Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo and he is still an active member of this organization. He also holds membership in the Bay St. Louis chapter of the Knights of Columbus. For the past several years, Favre and many other classmates have been participating in Pearl River ' s Homecoming activities by holding a class reunion. 4? We had super participation from the campus organizations and from local merchants and busin esses. We really appreciate their support. Thousands turned out downtown as the parade wound its way through the streets of Poplarville. The parade featured state, local, and county dignitaries, as well as several district bands, and queen Jennifer Hammill and her 1985 PRC Home coming Court. Miss Amy Smith and her Poplarville High School Homecom ing court and the Blueberry Festival Queen and court were also in the parade. I also want to thank Don Bradley Ford for providing us with the many new cars to use during the parade. Dr. Sones said Thanks also goes out to the Poplarville City Police and the many PRC faculty and staff members who help make our annu al Homecoming Parade a success. Alumni Officers . . . 4 J Rhonda Stines Stacey Breland This was good for our students and faculty, said Dr. Marvin R. White. Pearl River College president It was a good way of demonstrating the meaning of the River Magic here at the Poplarville campus. We hope to make this an annual event, said Betty Apple white of Apple ' s LTD. It was so nice to have the cooperation from the business community and the participation from the PRC students. The North Pearl River County Chamber of Commerce and its Poplarville Merchants Association took the town to college. In an effort to welcome Pearl River College students to the Poplarville business community, the local organizations staged the first annual Spectacular City Gala at Marion Hall on the PRC campus. Bottom row: Ann Caines, Terrie Rhodes, Pam Ladner, Shani Bourn, Dee Dee Ryals. A 32-yard scoring strike from Terrie Rhodes to Debra Powell with only four plays remaining in the second half of the Bloomer Bowl lifted the Sophomores to a 9-0 victory over a stubborn Freshman team. The con- troversy occurred on the first play of the game when the Freshmen attempted to run a center sneak. The play picked up 20 yards and gave the Freshmen an apparent first down on the Sophomores ' 30-yard line. The play, however, was protested by the Sophomores and after a long debate by the officials and Bloomer Bowl director Harvey Seligman, the play was ruled illegal. BOWL F R E S H M E N Top row: Karen Mattos, Lisa Kindja, Leta Aultman, Connie Reid, Shelly Rush. Bottom row: Margaret Malley, Sherol Henry, Karen Dailey, Chris Halley, Frank Payne. Neither team could muster any offense for the remainder of the first half. In the second half the Freshmen marched to the 12-yard line of the Sophomores, but the Sophomores played tuff and prevented the first down. The Sophomores took over possession of the ball with only six plays remaining in the contest. In two plays they moved the ball to the 32 of the Freshmen, and on the next play connected with Powell for the touchdown. The extra point was good as D.D. Ryals swept around the left end making the score 7-0. v. 0 The Freshmen took over the ball with only three plays remaining and were forced to throw. On the next play the ball was snapped over the quar terback ' s head, rolling into the end zone, resulting in a safety for the Sophomores. The score was now 90 with one play remaining. On the final play of the game the Sophomores fell on the ball to walk away with the victory. 53 FOR THEM DAWGS! VJ PERK WEEK . . In college Wayne is the Freshman Class President. 105 DEANA FRESHMEN AMY TAMMY FAVORITES TODD SCOTT WAYNE DELTA PSI OMEGA Young Sherwood tries to explain the events leading up to the murder and tries to focus in on the murderers identity. Some of the suspects of the murder from left to right are Dinah Cherry (Karen Mardis), Laverne Lovejoy (Connie Duprey), Trixie Bender (Darla Kling), Meg Baker (Lori Dale), Hillary Creastly (Donna Fullilove) and Amanda Wheeler (Shani Bourn). Laverne, Amanda and Hillary awaiting the final outcome of Sherwood ' s investigation. 108 Presents . . . Trying to get to the bottom of the things, Sherwood Holmes (Paul Miller) questions Amanda Wheeler (Shani Bourn) about her actions at the time of the murder. The Pearl River chapter of Delta Psi Omega presented their annual play April 16 17 in Moody Hall Auditorium. The play was entitled The Very Great Grandson of Sherlock Holmes , a comedy written by Bill Majeski about one of the many cases in the career of Sherlock Holmes ' grandson Sherwood. It is the ultimate Sherlock Holmes spoof, done in the terms of a contemporary comedy. Unfortunately, great grandson Sherwood is not quite up to his illustrious ancestor Sherlock. The pace of the comedy is fast and the satire is a comic delight. The wonderful job of directing was done by Connie Holmes with great help from student directors Donald Balch and Lori Dale. I I Sherwood questions butler Jason Mctory (Donald Balch) while Dr. Watson (Tim Proulx) observes the action. (Left) Jason Mctorg introduces Trixie Bender as Dr. Watson checks out this new suspect. 109 J ' JI 1986 SPRING [ Pearl River College ' s ' 86 spring enrollment was up 54 stu dents since this time last year, according to Dr. Willis Lott, PRC ' s director of admissions. By the end of late registration, PRC closed out with 1425 students. Last spring the total was 1371. According to the admissions office, very few schedules needed changing because of errors. The computers broke down during the registration process due to the overload of new students registering. Dr. Lott said he was pleased with the entire registration process and commends the faculty and students for their assistance. REGISTRATION Dr. Lott said that Dean Enoch Seal and about 10 faculty advisors were on hand to assist students who were scheduled for a class which had been closed due to the overload. This spared students the inconve- nience of returning to the beginning of the line. I would like to thank the faculty and students for assisting in the successful registration, Dr. Lott said. 1986 PRC ' S All students, faculty, and staff were invited to donate at the Pearl River Junior College bloodmobile visit Wednesday, January 29. Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) coordinated the blooddrive in the lobby of Marion Hall from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. According to MBS Recruitment Representa tive Jim Landrum, people who need blood are people like yourself — BLOOD DRIVE friends, relatives, co workers, patients in local hospitals. Most Americans, at least 95 percent of those who reach age 72, will need blood during their lifetime. Blood will be there when it ' s needed because responsible people like you have donated regularly to help save lives, he said. As reassurance to those who may consid er Jim Landrum recruitment representative for MBS said, You can ' t get anything (colds, hepatitis, AIDS, or anything else) from donating, cause the materials used are sterile, but what you do get can be a deep sense of satisfaction knowing you may have saved someone ' s life. Remember, if you ' re here next year, donating blood would be one of your best bets!! Doc Hudson, Trainer No Name Pos Gr Ht Wl Home Town 4 Mike Clemons CB S 511 185 Theodore.
