TENNIS The 1989 Tanner Boys Tennis Team turned the G.B.L. powers on their heads, with a league record of 80. Lead by the senior G.B.L. All-stars-, Captain Andy Jacobson, Dana Wantman, Bob Richmond and Jeff Bailey, the team finished second in their league, and went on to the sec- ond round of the state team tournament. GIRL’S TRACK For the first time in the GBL, both the boys and girls remained undefeated becoming tri- ple crown champions. The toughest opponent they had to face this spring was Somerville. The Tanner Track Team easily defeated them 81 45. This years seniors have to be given a lot of credit. Jen Brooks and Michelle Pappas, both captains, have always come through for the team. Other seniors like Hei- di Schmidt, Cathy Pettipas, Kerrin O’Donnell, Chantelle Violete, and Tracey Velton will be hard to replace because of their efforts. Their re- cord was six wins and four loses. They were selected to play Danvers in the first round of the Division II North MIAA Tournament. Although the team did well, they are loosing 3 seniors. The team should do extremely well next year since they have two Freshmen playing Varsity singles.
