DEDICATION TO OUR PARENTS When searching for a person to dedicate the yearbook to, there is always difficulty trying to determine who is the most deserving and who has given the most support and under- standing to all of us. We on the Meta staff have decided to break away from tradition and deviate from the normal mode of choosing a faculty member. We have decided to dedi- cate this 1985 Meta to the most important people in our lives, our parents. From our earliest days, they have cared for and nurtured us. They have provided for us and have shared our successes and our downfalls. They have given us advice, support and discipline. Though the high school years are the most difficult and communication is not always at its’ peak, they have been there and have made an effort to teach us morals and shape our lives. Though sometimes we argue and don’t understand one another, we feel their love and know that they care. None of us would be where we are today without them. We appreci- ate all that they have done for us and love them very much. McCarthy, Jr. •tJJtK Principal JAMES J, BUCKLEY, JR SUPERINTENDENT TO THE CLASS OF 1985 PEABODY VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS m960 Charles J. McCarthy Jr. 1 am pleased to have this opportunity to pen a few remarks to the Class of 1985 upon your graduation from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. This yearbook serves not only as a record of your graduating year but on a broader scale serves as reminder of your accomplishments and efforts during all of your years in school. Those accomplishments were considerable, some of which were arrived at not without pain, nor without a few setbacks along the way. Easy or hard, these events have left their mark on you and the wealth of those experiences will serve you well as you move into the world of employment or on to further education. During the two years that I have had the pleasure of knowing you, I have personally witnessed your successes, and have attempted to contribute to them when the opportunities arose. I look forward to hearing of your continued successes. I know they will come for you have proven yourself. Best of luck in all of your future endeavors. Going on is the hardest part. You leave your friends behind; But the knowledge that you learned. Will always stay in your mind. Though you leave this place in body. In spirit you’ll always be here; Your mind may be far away. But your soul will float near. There were good times and bad. You had fun, you cried tears; But nothing will ever replace. These wonderful high school years. So don’t despair my friends. As we leave these hallowed halls; Your high school years have to end. When your future calls. -Kathy Stone ’84’ Douglas S. It is difficult for anyone to comprehend the true amount of planning, time, effort, changes and difficulties that are involved in the production of a yearbook. In the end, when it is in my hands I suppose that all of that will be put behind me as well. This year’s Meta is different than any other in the history of P.V.M.H.S. in that it includes the entire year and therefore entailed even greater obstacles to overcome. None of this could have been possible without the constant (literally) supervision and guidance of Mr. Frank Hardy. I am sure he doesn’t know that I am fully aware of this. Also, Mr. Tom Keeley, our Jostens representative has been a life saver and a constant support system throughout the entire year. On behalf of the entire Meta staff and the class of 1985, 1 would like to extend my sincere thanks to these two extremely dedicated men. 1 hope that this book will be a treasure chest for all of your high school memories in the years to come. The best years of our lives, the times we spent together; The feelings that we’ve shared that will be with us forever. Our victories and our losses, the agony and the thrill; That feeling of unity that lingers with us still. We dream towards the future, yet look back towards yesterday; All that we’ve accomplished, those who’ve helped along the way. We’ll strive for what we want and in time we will see; Our success growing closer, as we become the best that we can be. We’ll move on in our seperate ways as we say goodbye; But as we move on to start a new life, our memories will never die. We may long to capture the moments that have passed us by so fast; But as tomorrow creeps upon us, we will never forget the past. -I.S. ’84’ LUAU HALLOWEEN PARTY If you think you are beaten, you are; If you think you are not, you don’t. For out in the world we find Success begins with a fellow’s will; It’s all in the state of mind. If you think you’re outclassed, you are; You’ve got to think high to rise. ( SENIOR PROM 0 . There are some who can still remember All the things we used to do But the days of our youth are numbered And the ones who survive it few Oh, I can still see the smiling faces When the times were so good Ail in the old familiar places I’d go back if I could. Well it’s a hard thing to face the music But it’s something everybody’s got to do So 1 hope that I can always remember All the crazy times we had to go through Now it’s a dream that ' s slowly fading And I don’t want it to go All of the memories are evading And I want you to know. Now we’ve traveled across the oceans And we’ve seen what there is to see But I guess it’s not the proper solution Cause it’s all about the same to me Now I look back and it makes me wonder Why we j ust couldn’t see All of the battles that we won and fought there And I wish that I could be with the. People of the wind I want to see them again It’s where we used to be free And that’s the place for me It’s just a state of mind A thing that’s so hard to find with the people of the wind. -Kansas GOLD PATRONS Mr. Mrs. Charles Angelakis Mr. Mrs. Harry Asloglou Mr. Mrs. Lawerence P. Changes surrounded us; the Higgins- Kennedy merger, a new principal and above all, a new attendance policy. It wa a combined effort that brought us out on top. We held together and beat the odds. Here we are now at the end of the line and after all things are considered we are able to stand tall and show our Tanner pride. We should be proud of our accomplishments. There is no shame in the few times that we ' ve stumbled in the past; we must look at our mistakes and realize that we’ve learned from them. Our errors have gained us maturity and responsibility which in turn helps us to determine our future goals. The answers for attaining these goals lie within us, each and every one of us. Our Senior year has been one which we will always remember. We’ve had good times and memories which we’ll treasure forever. As we go our seperate ways, we wish you all the best of luck and hope that your years at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School will be rich and special-years that you will never forget. -The Senior Class Officers; Stephanie, Bruce, Susan, Greg and Mrs. Irish V 233 SILVER PATRONS Ken Chris Banville Mr. Mrs. Alex Copoulos Mr. Mrs. Harry Georgeopoulos Mr. Mrs. Richard Hetherington Mr. Mrs. James J.
